The Hague Appeal for Peace is an organization with a global campaign to create a "culture of peace" through the following means: by strengthening humanitarian and human rights laws and institutions, by advancing the prevention, peaceful resolution, and transformation of conflicts, by abolishing nuclear weapons and develop disarmament campaigns, and identifying the root causes of war. Robert E. Levering is a pacifist and Quaker. He has been the co-author of Fortune magazine's annual list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For," and a speaker on workplace trends and management strategies aimed at improving workplace productivity. Levering is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the Martin Luther King Jr. School of Social Change.

Turn Toward Peace attempted to coordinate the efforts of peace organizations for more effective action in the 1960s. World Without War Council was chosen as the group's new name in 1967 to help clarify that it was a council made up of iany organizations set up to work for long-term change.
